khalil murrell grew up mostly in Camden, New Jersey, wedged between a meat factory, Walt Whitman’s house and the county jail. A former high school teacher, he earned degrees in Political Science, Education and Fine Arts—Creative Writing. Khalil worked for the Dodge Poetry Program and Festival for five years and continues to work in arts education. Khalil lives and writes in Newark.
